#5: 1997-2004 Dodge Dakota

The 2nd generation Dodge Dakota is a great midsize pickup truck. It came with an optional 4.7L V8 engine producing about 230hp. The Dakota was one of the only midsize pickup trucks from the 1990's to have a V8 engine.  It was also one of the first midsize pickup trucks to have an optional crew cab. You can buy one of these vehicles for as low as $1 200.

The Chevrolet S10 is a classic american small pickup truck. It is not known for its towing capabilities or even its off -road capabilities. But it is known for being a great reliable work truck that gets the job done. It comes with a 4.3L V6 producing about 180 horsepower.

The ford F-150 needs no introduction. It has been the best selling pickup truck in North America for over 40 years. It has also been the best selling vehicle in the U.S. for 36 years. The 10th generation F-150 was revolutionary. It was the first full size pickup truck to have aerodynamic curvy body styling. It was also the first F-150 generation to come with a crew-cab configuration. You can now find these trucks for as low as $2000. The engine configurations were a 4.2L V6, a 4.6L V8 and a 5.4L V6. The horsepower ranged from 217hp to 275hp.


#2 1988-1998 Chevrolet/GMC K1500

The Chevrolet K1500 was one of the last "simple"pickup trucks to be sold in America. It is a very reliable truck that can last over 250 000 kilometers. It isn't known for it's fuel economy or for it's features. If you are looking for an easy truck to work on, and you don't really care for all the bells and whitsles you get with newer pickup trucks, then the K1500 is for you. The engine configurations are a 4.3L V6, a 5.0L V8 and a 5.7 L V8, the horsepower ranges from 165hp to 255hp.

#2000-2010 Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is a great pickup truck for someone who wants decent fuel economy and an easy vehicle to drive in town. The Ranger was the last "small" pickup truck in North-America. Although it was considered a "midsize" pickup truck, it was a much smaller vehicle than its competitors. It came with 3 engine configurations, a 2.3L I4 engine, a 3.0L V6 and a 4.0L V6. The horsepower ranged from 143 horsepower to 207 horsepower.
